Notice of Repealing

NOTICE OF REPEALING

Pursuant to Section 31 of The Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.O.18 this serves as Notice to the Public that The Municipality of Central Huron has Repealed By-Law 20-78 (former Town of Clinton) which designated the Clinton Town Hall and Library as Heritage Properties under Part IV of the Act.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PROPERTIES:

The buildings at 23 Albert Street, known as the Clinton Town Hall and Library, are situated at the corner of Rattenbury Street and Albert Street in the community of Clinton, now a part of the amalgamated Municipality of Central Huron.  

REPEAL OF BY-LAW 20-78

At the June 7, 2022 the Council of the Municipality of Central Huron adopted By-law 37-2022 being a By-Law to repeal the designation of the Clinton Town Hall and Library as properties of architectural and historical significance (Heritage Property) under the Ontario Heritage Act.

OBJECTION TO THE DE-DESIGNATION BY APPEALING TO TRIBUNAL

In accordance with the Act, a person who objects to the Municipality repealing By-Law 20-78 shall, within thirty (30) days of the publication of this Notice, notify the Municipal Clerk and submit a Notice of Appeal (Form A1) with the Ontario Land Tribunal in accordance with Section 31(8) paragraph 2 of the Ontario Heritage Act. The Notice of appeal must set out the objection to the repealing of the By-Law, reasons in support of the objection and be accompanied by the fee charge by the Tribunal.

If no notice of appeal is given within the time period specified, the Municipality of Central Huron’s amending By-Law 37-2022 comes into force and the Municipal Clerk is instructed to ensure a copy of the by-law is registered on title against the properties affected and serve a copy of the registered By-Law on the Ontario Heritage Trust.
