Condolences for Bert Dykstra, former Central Huron Councillor, Reeve, and Huron County Warden

The Staff and Council of the Municipality of Central Huron were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Reeve Bert Dykstra, who served over twenty years in municipal government.

Bert was a Councillor in the 1990s for the former Goderich Township before being sworn-in as the newly amalgamated Central Huron's Deputy Reeve in 2000. From 2003 to 2010, he served as Reeve for the Municipality of Central Huron and also served as Warden for the County of Huron in 2010.

During his tenure with the Municipality, he was involved in the planning for the Beech Street extension, REACH Huron, the new fire hall, and the new arena. He was involved in many committees throughout the region.

Mayor Jim Ginn and Brenda Ginn personally extend their deepest sympathy to Nellie and family. "Bert was instrumental in getting the newly formed Central Huron off to a good start. His leadership and judgment are still being felt today. So much was accomplished under his leadership and it was an honour to serve with him" Mayor Ginn says.

Flags in the Municipality of Central Huron have been lowered to half-mast in memoriam of Bert Dykstra. We send our sincerest condolences to Bert's wife, Nellie, family and friends and thank him for his many years of service and dedication to the former Goderich Township, Municipality, and our community as a whole.

Bert's obituary and service details can be viewed on Falconer Funeral Homes' website
