Clinton Pool to Be Removed

At the June 16, 2025 Regular Council meeting, Council was informed by staff via formal report that the municipality's application for grant funding to assist with replacing the Clinton Pool was declined. 

Staff had submitted an application for provincial grant funding through the Ministry of Sport's "Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund". Central Huron was informed via letter from the Ministry dated June 3, 2025 that the application was not successful. Council had previously decided to close the Clinton Pool after a 2023 estimate for pool design and renovations was received in excess of $5 million dollars but later directed staff to apply for grant funding in a final attempt to save the pool. 

With the news that the grant application was unsuccessful, staff have been directed to excavate and fill in the pool and return the area to green space.
