With Regard to Complaints re. Animal Control Officer
With Regard to Complaints re. Animal Control Officer:
Central Huron would like to point out that under the authority of their position an Animal Control Officer has the right to access a property where a complaint has been made with regard to an animal control related issue. Attending a property to investigate a complaint does not constitute trespassing.
Moreover, complaints about a municipal staff and/or a municipally contracted service should be made in writing to the municipality – use of social media for this purpose is not advised as it results in inappropriate, offensive and/or illegal statements – some of which are now being investigated by the OPP.
In closing, Central Huron would state that Animal Control and Bylaw Enforcement are not easy jobs. Central Huron supports our staff and contracted service agents as they endeavor to deal with animal control and/or bylaw enforcement complaints because these are often volatile situations and staff put themselves in harm’s way trying to address citizen concerns.
